Sabine spent four decades battling eczema, seasonal allergies, crippling PMS, chronic bloating and hormonal chaos. After migrating from Germany to Los Angeles she moved through low-carb, keto and finally a strict keto-carnivore protocol in 2017. Within six months her digestive pain vanished, PMS disappeared and lifelong eczema faded; seven years later those victories hold strong. Now 52, Sabine glides through menopause, builds calisthenic strength and shares her journey online.

Early Years: Skin, Digestion and Allergies
I was born on March 21, 1973, in Germany and almost immediately faced itchy skin, constant bloating and stubborn constipation. By four I carried a diagnosis of severe seasonal allergies. Antihistamines knocked me out in class, my arms were wrapped to stop scratching, and springtime play was cancelled year after year.
Conventional Treatments and Misdiagnosis
Mega-strength topical steroids masked symptoms while classmates mocked the wrinkled skin of my cortisone-scarred neck. An alternative practitioner in my twenties urged me to avoid wheat and dairy—advice I discarded after half-hearted attempts brought little relief. A dermatologist told me to eat whatever I wished and simply apply more cortisone, a strategy that nearly ruined my skin.
The Hormone Roller Coaster
For over thirty years every menstrual cycle ushered in breast pain, mood swings, sugar cravings, raging eczema and debilitating water retention. No amount of aerobic instruction or relentless step classes shifted the fat parked stubbornly on hips and thighs, hinting at deep hormonal imbalance.
Crossing the Atlantic and Discovering Low Carb
In 2006 I moved to Los Angeles for post-doctoral studies, met my husband and gorged on cookies, soda and campus fast food until a friend introduced LCHF in 2013. That tip pushed me along the path from standard American fare to low-carb, then keto and ultimately zero-carb eating. Grains, sugar and seed oils fell first; coconut flour, almond flour and sweeteners lingered longer.
Eliminations, Discoveries and Dairy Goodbye
A month-long dairy elimination erased my chronic cough, weepy eyes and runny nose. The following spring arrived without hay-fever misery for the first time in my life. Sweeteners, coconut products and almond flour triggered bloating or itching; each went into permanent exile.
Embracing the Keto-Carnivore Challenge
Dr. Shawn Baker’s tweets about eating only meat intrigued me. When the first 90-day keto-carnivore challenge began on August 15 2017—the day my period started—I committed to beef and water (coffee on and off) and tracked results meticulously. Itching eased, bloating vanished, and that very cycle passed with almost no PMS.
Physical and Mental Rebirth on Zero Carb
Six months in, PMS was gone. Chronic constipation disappeared, colds rarely landed, sunburn became harder to earn under the Southern California sun and a steady calm replaced decades of mood swings. My thighs defined themselves, hips slimmed, kick-boxing speed exploded even without carbohydrates, and my eyesight improved enough to require weaker lenses. Best of all, 44 years of eczema receded until only faint scars remained—and even those began healing.
Seven Years Later: Menopause, Strength and Ongoing Adaptation
Today, at 52 and officially in menopause, eczema remains in remission. I can, in moderation, enjoy eggs, yogurt, cheeses, rice, potatoes, blueberries and squash, yet I return to full keto-carnivore whenever symptoms threaten. Strength training—largely calisthenics—keeps me fitter now than in my twenties, and a vanished chlorine allergy lets me swim again after a decade away from the pool.
Reflections and Advice
I once craved instant fixes; real healing demanded patience. The body withstands years of dietary abuse but also repairs remarkably when nourished properly. Keto-carnivore remains the foundation I revisit whenever life stages shift, and I welcome the health discoveries still ahead. Follow my continued journey on X (@Sabine_BC) where I post body-weight fitness snippets—and the occasional cat photo—for anyone seeking proof that vibrant health can bloom at any age on a meat-focused, keto-carnivore plate.
