Andy, a 55-year-old commercial driver, was 70 pounds overweight with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and severe IBS that required 4-5 bathroom trips daily. After growing up vegetarian and trying numerous failed diets, his daughter recommended the carnivore approach. In 18 months, he lost 80 pounds, gained 20 pounds of muscle, reversed his diabetes, eliminated blood pressure medications, resolved IBS, and increased his bench press from 135 to 235 pounds while reducing his waist from 42 to 32 inches.

Andy was in rough shape. He was 70 pounds overweight, suffered from type 2 diabetes, and he couldn't seem to get his blood pressure under control. His job required him to pass a physical, and he was going to lose his commercial driver's license if he continued down the path he was on.
Having grown up in a vegetarian household, Andy had tried countless different ways of eating over the years to try to stay healthy, including a low glycemic index diet, reducing red meat, and avoiding starchy vegetables. Nothing worked! At the recommendation of his loving daughter, Andy decided to try a keto-carnivore diet. "It didn't sound like it would work," Andy recalls thinking, "but I was desperate, so I decided to try it for a month and see what happens."
Overcoming IBS and Digestive Issues
In addition to hypertension and type 2 diabetes, Andy had struggled with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for years. Given all the travel he had to do for work, this complicated things. "I would have to go to the washroom 4-5 times a day, and I just felt like absolute crap all of the time." While Andy was adapting to a meat-based diet, his IBS symptoms were a bit worse in the beginning, but after just a couple of weeks, his symptoms were resolved. "I work an outdoor job where I'd have to run to the bushes literally to go to the bathroom, so it's nice not to have to do that any more!" he shares.
Changing Taste Preferences and Cravings
Andy experienced strong cravings for other foods his first few months on a keto-carnivore diet, but over time, those dissipated. "It seems weird, but fat is like candy to me now," he says. "I get the same satisfaction from a really fatty steak that I used to get from eating a bowl of ice cream or a fist full of chocolates. My taste buds are changing, they're becoming uncorrupted."
Daily Eating Routine and Strength Gains
A typical day of eating for Andy includes up to a dozen eggs and sausage in the morning, and chicken wings or ground pork for lunch. Dinner is usually a ribeye or pork steak. "My diet doesn't really change much except for when I have a day off of work," Andy explains. Eating this way has helped Andy increase his strength, and at 55 years old, he's gone from being able to bench press 135 pounds to 235 pounds!
Remarkable Health Transformation
Overall, Andy says he feels fantastic on a keto-carnivore diet. His doctor was amazed at his results in just six months. He no longer needs any blood pressure medication, improved his asthma symptoms, and he was able to reverse his type 2 diabetes. In the year and a half since Andy has been eating a meat-based diet, he's lost 80 pounds and gained 20 pounds of muscle, and went from a 42-inch waist to a 32-inch waist, the same size he was in high school!
Andy is moved by how significant changing his diet has been for his health. He hopes anyone listening to his story will consider it for themselves. "If you want your health back, become a keto-carnivore!"
