Your Roadmap to Starting Your Revero Health Journey

Your Revero health journey began when you first decided to join our program to get help meeting your health goals. But don’t change your diet just yet! There are steps to complete first, and this article provides a reference guide to all of them.

We’ll send you links to videos to watch and tasks to complete as part of your initial education before beginning your Revero diet therapy.

After downloading our app and registering on it, you should receive a welcome message from your Revero health coach.

It’s important to start watching all the videos we send you right away because a few more are coming. You'll need to complete these steps to begin your nutrition therapy within the next one to two weeks. We ask this because we have found that if you are well informed and understand the program, how it works, and what’s required of you while mutually agreeing on how the process works, it results in a better outcome for our patients.

Your Welcome Call

The first step is to set a date and time for an initial call with your health coach. This call takes about fifteen minutes, and you’ll share your goals, expectations, and anything that you think could be challenging for you based on your personality, circumstances, or history.

You can ask questions, get answers, and begin your process. Try to get this call scheduled in the next two days. If that doesn’t look possible, message your coach and see what can be arranged.

Learning Revero

We have a learning sequence of videos that inform you about how the Revero program works, the scientific and logical basis for our interventions, and the expectations between you, your coach, and your Revero provider.

You’ll learn how we measure ketones and (if you have type 2 diabetes) test blood glucose, and how the information is added to your app. You’ll also need a scale for your weigh-ins. They are inexpensive at Wal-Mart or Amazon.

The principles behind food choices and how to know what to eat and what to avoid are a major part of your onboarding education. Your onboarding videos also explain the different stages of the Revero therapy and what those will look like for you.

First Call With Your Revero Provider

You’ll also schedule a call with your Revero provider, during which you will go over your medications, supplements, health history, and goals. It helps to have all your medications available, and perhaps the highlights of your health history timeline jotted down so that you can spend more time on the call planning your health future and less looking for information.

Your Revero provider will also review your most recent blood work, if it is available, or determine which labs to order and schedule new bloodwork for you.

Your Start Date

After completing these meetings and viewing your videos, Revero and your care team will give you the information you’ve been waiting for, green-lighting you into the program and telling you to start your new diet!

This is also a good time to plan your menu and grocery list and do a bit of pantry purge to get rid of things you won’t be eating anymore.

About Biomarker Logging

Our system is very dependent on you logging your biomarkers. Some of them are entered automatically, like your blood glucose, which depends on you performing the test regularly. Other biomarkers, like your symptoms or ketones, must be entered manually.

Your care team will depend on you for this data so that your care programming can be adjusted to suit your particular situation. It’s super important that you develop good data logging habits to make this work.

Tips for Checking Your Values

Here are a few suggestions we hope can help you, especially at the onset of your program, establish good routines when you’re checking and testing the following biomarkers.

Blood glucose

Revero recommends that diabetics test blood glucose levels first thing in the morning and then provide some fasting values as well as testing after eating. If you're unsure when to test, review this with your Revero health coach. You might consider setting a schedule alarm on your phone until it becomes habitual so you never forget.

Ketones

Ketones are measured with the urine test strips that Revero provides. Check these in the morning, before eating.

You can measure your ketones more often, but be sure to measure them in the morning. If you’re also measuring your blood sugar, you can test your ketones too.

Blood Pressure

You may test your blood pressure at a time that suits your schedule, but try to do it in a similar situation each day. In other words, don’t check it first thing in the morning, before coffee, on one day, or after exercising another day.

Body Weight

Revero recommends that you weigh yourself once a week, approximately at the same time of day, with the same amount of clothing. You’ll need to buy a scale if you don’t already have one. A simple and inexpensive digital scale from WalMart or Amazon is sufficient.

Your weight may fluctuate throughout the day, which is normal but can lead to confusing results. Weighing at the same time of day each week helps to see a more accurate number. However, don’t be upset if it doesn’t change sometimes or even goes up occasionally.

Most people’s weight loss journey is not a straight line. At some points, your body may be building muscle, so your weight may not change even though your shape is changing.

Communicating With Your Revero Coach

The Revero app has a messaging function, which you’ll use to send messages to your coach. You may send these at any time, day or night. Your coach will answer back within twenty-four hours. While your coach may sometimes respond immediately, it’s important to realize that probably won’t happen each time.

Your coach is the go-between for you to communicate with your Revero provider. If you have a question for your provider, you’ll go through your coach to send it to your provider. Your provider will answer within 24 hours for urgent issues and may take up to three days to respond to questions that aren’t as time-sensitive.

Communication is key to our program. Whether it’s you entering biomarkers, messaging your care team, or your care team’s messages for you, communication is a central component on which our program is built. We don’t simply tell you what to do and send you on your way; it is an interactive process, and we are with you along the entire journey!

Communication Limitations for Emergencies

Because we are working with a remote platform and communication may take up to 24 hours, it’s important to realize we can’t address emergencies. If you feel you’re experiencing a health emergency, don’t wait for your coach to reply.

For example, if your blood sugar is 50 and you’re weak and clammy, take action by consuming some glucose tabs or fruit and contacting your local provider. Alert someone who is nearby, in case you lose consciousness, and explain what is happening. Calling 911 is appropriate in these or similarly dangerous circumstances.

By all means, message your coach afterward and provide an update, but don’t postpone local intervention because you’re waiting for us to message you back.

You’re Not Alone—You Have a Team

The Revero Care program is not a solo, solitary endeavor but a team exercise. We leverage the power of teamwork and communication to help you get the best results possible. You can communicate with other coaches if yours is unavailable. This way, someone is always there for you! Yes, that includes weekends and holidays as well.
