Former Athlete Turned Morbidly Obese
I was once athletic but eventually became morbidly obese, peaking at least 365 pounds—my scale even broke under me one day. After switching to a heavy‑meat keto‑carnivore diet, I dropped to 232 pounds within six months and felt amazing.

My Food Before Keto‑Carnivore
My meals were rice-based with veggies and occasional meat. Meat was rare—maybe a pound per week. I relied on sweet coffee and muffins every two hours to get through the day.

Poor Endurance and Health Decline
My energy lagged within two-hour windows, and my concentration suffered—critical for an engineer. My vision was deteriorating from posterior uveitis (“birdshot”), necessitating 60 mg/day prednisone to avoid blindness, and I had rising obesity and blood pressure.

Initially skeptical, I tested 20 g carbs/day, zero sugar, and no vegetable oils, tracking blood sugar and pressure with my nurse wife. We expected medication reductions—and we were right.

Changing Dietary Habits
I began with zero sugar and <20 g carbs daily. Bacon and eggs or a burger satisfied me if I felt snacky. My meals included eggs with butter, heavy cream, cheese, and eventually large servings of red meat—rising to 1–2 lb per meal. Ribeyes taught me true satiety. Energy between meals soared, and blood sugar fell from the 200s to below 100 fasting. I discontinued metformin and reduced BP meds under doctor supervision.

My Terrible Health Before Keto‑Carnivore
I suffered from severe sleep apnea requiring CPAP, dangerously high blood pressure, posterior uveitis with retinal bleeding, GERD, chronic dental issues, 2+ pitting edema on my shins, fatty liver, slow wound healing, peripheral neuropathy in toes, recurrent infections, and relied on six medications daily including losartan, HCTZ, metformin, tramadol, and PRN pain medicine. My joints ached constantly, and I could barely sit in restaurant booths.

Restoration of Health
With keto‑carnivore, nearly all conditions significantly improved or resolved. My blood sugar, blood pressure, eye inflammation, GERD, sleep apnea, edema, neuropathy, dental health, liver health, wound healing, and energy all normalized. I now maintain my health with a diet rich in meat, eggs, butter, and cream. My wife—also a nurse—continues monitoring with optimism.
