In July 2015, at age 58, Rick collapsed in the ER with dangerously high blood pressure. Doctors prescribed hypertension medications and a statin. Within weeks, he embraced a strict low‑carb ketogenic diet. Monthly check‑ups astonished his PCP—blood pressure meds and statins were no longer necessary. His gout, joint pain, and lactose intolerance resolved. In nine months he’d lost 85 lbs.
Embracing the Keto‑Carnivore Lifestyle
Gradually removing all plant foods, Rick cut fruits, then veggies, and finally dark chocolate—remaining nearly 100% carnivore for over 3½ years. His staples include bison, beef, lamb, elk, eggs, and inherent fats—meals 3 to 4 times per day. He shifted from OMAD/2MAD and high fat focus to protein‑centered meals as his metabolism slowed.
A Lifestyle That Rebuilt His Health
Rick’s consistent strength training since 1995 paired well with his diet shift. With only animal foods and water, he maintains excellent blood pressure, stable glucose, and yearly cancer screenings—all without medications. His energy, mobility, and overall health have been fully restored.
